My name is Rachel and as you can see photography has completely won my heart. (…Along with bunnies and the ocean!) I'm 26, full of laughter, playfulness and I've been blessed enough to have been working with bride and grooms for 6 years now. Wedding days are filled with a myriad of wonderful emotions, fleeting moments and hearty laughs. I am grateful to act as the eyes and the heart behind the lens, to capture love stories and to potentially work by your side to help create heirlooms worth treasuring.
As an artist, I see the ordinary as extraordinary. I instinctively find newness in my daily surroundings. To normalize what’s exceptional, to “adjust” to routine, is to deprive the soul. Beauty -- as I see it -- is plentiful each day. Birds fluttering and dancing in front of a pale grey sky, clouds floating past in warm hues of pastel, beams of glimmering sunlight bursting through to graze the forest floor – witnessing such phenomena brings me joy and tremendous inspiration. I approach couples with the same enthusiasm and attentiveness. I strive to unveil and record these unique, timeless attributes as I focus on the candid moments that genuinely portray the two of you as a couple. By lacing natural light with love and laughter, a beautiful story unfolds -- and I feel deeply privileged that it’s my task to capture this.
I’ll never forget the wonder and thrill I embodied when presented with the challenge of constructing a cardboard pinhole camera, developing its film in the darkroom, and fashioning prints by hand. Though this was merely an introductory high school photography course, I knew I’d landed on something meaningful, something profoundly resonant, and something which would remain in my life for the long haul.
During this era of personal discovery, my mother shared a relic of her decades-past life with me – a vintage suitcase plastered with tattered stickers, each emblazoned with names of bands from before I was born. To my astonishment, I learned that my mother – as introverted, conservative and gentle as she is – once thrived as a photographer for metal concerts.
Yet another seed planted within my core! Soon, I eagerly began collecting diverse camera types, experimenting with their possibilities, and upturning their once-mysteries. And this fascination hasn’t escaped me; rather, it has grown. To carve a livelihood from my highest passion is an honor, and to connect with others throughout the experience truly amplifies this delight. I am truly filled with joy when capturing weddings or families and I hope that my clients can see that when being photographed by me!
